SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.
The webcam project has been sponsored by the Shell Environmental Fund.
On November, 14th we moved the owls indoors into their winter enclosure. They will stay indoors until the middle of April. In the wild, Burrowing Owls would have migrated to southern Texas, Arizona, New Mexico or Mexico at the end of September, beginning of October. The captive owls at the Centre have lost this ability to migrate, either because of injury or failure to migrate. Their winter months here in chilly Saskatchewan are spent, therefore, in the cozy warm Centre.
Teachers - April until the end of June is an excellent time to do a project on the lifecycle of Burrowing Owls. Watch the webcam as the eggs are laid, chicks hatch and grow.
To view webcam you will need Java Virtual Machine(also called Java Runtime Environment).
